ABOUT SUKHA SPORTS THERAPY
With over 6 years of experience, Sukha Sports Therapy offers a holistic, evidence-based approach to alleviating aches and pains, correcting imbalances, managing injuries, supporting rehabilitation, and improving overall movement health.
Each session begins with a thorough assessment to identify the underlying causes of pain, imbalance, or dysfunction, followed by hands-on treatment. A personalised rehabilitation plan can also be included to support long-term results.
As a qualified Sports Therapist, Personal Trainer, and Pilates Instructor, I combine techniques such as manual therapy, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, joint mobilization, corrective exercise, strength training, and tailored rehabilitation programs to help clients move better, reduce pain, and build lasting resilience.
Sukha Sports Therapy supports a wide range of clients from active individuals and athletes to those managing ongoing aches, postural issues, or returning to exercise after injury with a strong focus on education, empowerment, and sustainable movement. For those seeking maintenance or relaxation, I offer remedial and full-body massage treatments.
What is a Sports Therapist?
Sports therapy focuses on preventing injuries, treating pain, and improving the way your body moves but despite the name, it isn’t only for people who play sports. A sports therapist is trained to assess how your muscles, joints, and movement patterns work together. Using hands‑on techniques, exercise rehabilitation, and personalised treatment plans, the goal is to help your body function at its best.
Why Sukha?
The word Sukha (pronounced soo‑kah) comes from yoga philosophy and translates to “ease,” “balance,” or “good space.” It reflects the belief that the body should feel supported, spacious, and capable, not constantly tense, guarded, or overwhelmed. By addressing the nervous system alongside physical treatment and movement, Sukha Sports Therapy aims to create the conditions for lasting change, where the body can move, breathe, and function with greater ease.
Nervous System Regulation & Somatic Release
At the heart of Sukha Sports Therapy is an understanding that true healing and wellbeing don’t begin with muscles alone they begin with the nervous system.
The nervous system shapes how the body responds to stress, pain, injury, and movement. When it is constantly in a heightened or protective state, the body may hold tension, experience persistent pain, feel stiff or fatigued, or struggle to fully recover even with regular exercise or hands‑on treatment. Supporting the nervous system allows the body to shift into a state where healing, restoration, and ease are possible.
Sukha Sports Therapy integrates principles of nervous system regulation and somatic release into movement, treatment, and recovery. Somatic release focuses on gentle, conscious movement, breath, and body awareness to help the body release stored tension and stress held within the muscles and nervous system. Rather than forcing change, this approach encourages the body to feel safe enough to let go.
Breathwork, slow and mindful movement, stretching, and intentional pauses are often incorporated to help settle the nervous system, improve body awareness, and restore balance between effort and ease. This supports not only physical recovery, but also emotional regulation, focus, and resilience.
